ADI-R Diagnostic Interview
Overview
The ADI-R is a structured diagnostic interview used with parents or caregivers. It is used in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder for both adults and children.
Four Specific Domains are assessed:
- 3 Functional Domains
- Language and Communication
- Reciprocal Social Interactions
- Repetitive, Restricted and Stereotyped Behaviours and Interests
- 1 Diagnostic Domain
- The presence of abnormal development evident at of before 36 months.
What Diagnostic Characteristics Inform the ADI-R?
Gathering specific information on a child’s clinical presentation and history is a useful step in forming a diagnosis, however, we do not use ADI-R alone in the diagnosis of children. We consider the contribution of ADI-R as a vital step in the diagnostic process and we dual assess using ADOS-2.
The ADI-R Assessment is a structured informant led interview and last for 3 hours.
The informant should be someone who knows you well and there is some information to gather from birth to 4 to 5, where possible. An example might be ‘what age you walked unaided’.
The ADI-R his a highly respected assessment interview with its grounding in research and has a high validity and is algorithm based. There are 93 questions with some questions having sub-questions.
Please note some services require you to have both an ADOS-2 and an ADI-R assessment for diagnostic purposes. If you require both assessments and want to book them at the same time, then a discount voucher will be made available. This reduced the combined cost to £1395.
