ADI-R Diagnostic Interview

Overview

The ADI-R is a structured diagnostic interview used with parents or caregivers. It is used in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder for both adults and children.

Four Specific Domains are assessed:

  1. 3 Functional Domains
  2. Language and Communication
  3. Reciprocal Social Interactions
  4. Repetitive, Restricted and Stereotyped Behaviours and Interests
  5. 1 Diagnostic Domain
  6. The presence of abnormal development evident at of before 36 months.

What Diagnostic Characteristics Inform the ADI-R?

Gathering specific information on a child’s clinical presentation and history is a useful step in forming a diagnosis, however, we do not use ADI-R alone in the diagnosis of children. We consider the contribution of ADI-R as a vital step in the diagnostic process and we dual assess using ADOS-2.

The ADI-R Assessment is a structured informant led interview and last for 3 hours.

The informant should be someone who knows you well and there is some information to gather from birth to 4 to 5, where possible. An example might be ‘what age you walked unaided’.

The ADI-R his a highly respected assessment interview with its grounding in research and has a high validity and is algorithm based. There are 93 questions with some questions having sub-questions.

Please note some services require you to have both an ADOS-2 and an ADI-R assessment for diagnostic purposes. If you require both assessments and want to book them at the same time, then a discount voucher will be made available. This reduced the combined cost to £1395.

If you would like to discuss your needs further please contact us via email and we will be happy to set up a discovery call.

Service Update

Fiona Project is closed and not currently providing ADHD assessment or prescribing services.

Following the resignation of our Clinical Director, and a review of our clinical governance arrangements, we have concluded that the service is unable to continue operating safely under its existing model.

The service is experiencing significant operational difficulties common to remote ADHD service models, particularly in relation to the provision of long-term prescribing without consistent shared care support from NHS Primary Care and access to face-to-face clinical monitoring. The service was not designed to provide long-term ADHD management in the absence of these arrangements.

In addition, without a Clinical Director in post, it would not be clinically appropriate or responsible to continue providing ADHD prescribing. At this time, we are unable to appoint a replacement Clinical Director, and the service will therefore remain closed.

All patients who were previously under our care have been contacted directly and supported through a managed transition of care, including guidance on referral to NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)-commissioned services or alternative providers where appropriate.

This decision has been taken in the interests of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and good clinical. Further updates will be published on this page should the status of the service change.
